Foundations in Racial Equity presented by The Equity Paradigm

  • Farmer Foodshare 902 North Mangum Street Durham, NC, 27701 United States (map)

There are vast social, economic, and political disparities plaguing our country that disproportionately impact communities of color. In addition to being disproportionately impacted by the wealth gap, incarceration, educational inequity, poor health outcomes, homelessness, etc., communities of color are underrepresented in spaces that have the decision-making power to impact outcomes in their communities.

The purpose of this Foundations in Racial Equity workshop is to provide the history of the construction of race, a key component in driving these inequities. This workshop helps participants understand why these inequities exist, so we can do something about it. This workshop develops shared language for how we discuss the issues and interrogates the intricate relationship between race and institutional outcomes. This workshop further challenges us to examine the ways in which we have interacted with race on internalized, interpersonal, institutional, and systemic levels.
