Heather Hill
Program Manager
Heather hails from the desert of Tucson, Arizona. While she didn’t grow up in a cooking centric household, she always loved to eat good food and started collecting cookbooks at a young age. Slowly but surely, she taught herself to cook simple, tasty dishes and has loved sharing good food with friends and community ever since.
Over time her passion for cooking expanded her interest in other food related issues. She moved to North Carolina in 2010 to work on a small-scale farm in Chatham County and became smitten with the landscape of the Piedmont and the inspiration of delicious locally grown products. After a summer stint on the farm, she began working at SEEDS, a youth focused educational farm in downtown Durham. There she taught lessons and managed programs that provided a safe and engaging space for young people to enjoy the outdoors, learn to farm, cook together, and explore the issues that affect their daily lives through the lens of food and food justice.
More recently, she’s been shaking up your favorite craft cocktail as a bartender at Alley 26 in downtown Durham. In her free time Heather is outside with her dog, Murray, hiking around the area or simply laying in a hammock and gazing up at the sky. She also loves to brew up concoctions in her kitchen, try new cocktail ideas, or pull together a meal with friends using some beautiful local ingredients. In 2016 she hiked the 650-kilometer Camino de Santiago in Spain and can’t wait to plan another epic travel adventure!
