WHAT’S CSA FOR ALL!?
CSA for ALL! is a multi-farm produce box with a big impact.
One share gets you a weekly (or every-other-week) portion of seasonal, farm-fresh food – a variety of local vegetables and fruits (plus eggs and optional add-ons), all sourced from North Carolina farmers and producers. CSA members receive their shares all season long, which they pick up at our food hub in Downtown Durham.
CSA members enjoy fresh, NC-grown produce while growing our local food system, with proceeds from each share supporting small and mid-scale farms across the state and strengthening Triangle-area food access efforts.
WHAT MAKES CSA FOR ALL! SPECIAL?
CSA for ALL! is more than a weekly portion of our farmers’ seasonal harvests. It’s an investment in a better food system.
Each purchase of a share supports small and mid-scale farms across North Carolina. Our farmers receive a fair price for their hard work and quality goods, providing their farm businesses with new sales opportunities. Proceeds from the CSA also support food access programs at Farmer Foodshare, which make nutritious, locally grown produce accessible to folks experiencing food insecurity in the Triangle-area.
A portion of sales from CSA for ALL! gets pooled into our Fresh Food Funds. Our community distribution partners who provide no-cost food boxes to hungry neighbors can use these funds to cover the cost of produce orders with Farmer Foodshare. We partner with over 30 community organizations who directly distribute fresh food where it’s needed most.
When you purchase a share, you contribute to the viability of marginalized NC farmers and ensure more people can eat good food grown right here, regardless of income. Supporting farmers + feeding our neighbors = a delicious win-win!
How it works:
A share means you get a produce box each week (or every-other-week) containing 7-12 various seasonal fruits and vegetables, plus eggs on some weeks, from 70+ farmers and producers in our network. There are optional specialty items, such as honey, jams, and other proteins added throughout the season, which you can add on to your share for any week.
We have weekly shares and every-other week shares.
The CSA runs for our entire harvest season, from mid-spring to early fall. Dates for the 2025 CSA season are April 3rd– September 25th (excluding the week of July 4th)– that’s 25 weeks of fresh, nutritious, locally grown food! Every-other week shares also begin Thursday, April 3rd, (excluding the week of July 4th), for a total of 13 weeks (last pickup date for every-other week shares is Thursday, September 18th).
Pickup is at our food hub located at 902 N. Mangum St. Durham, NC 27701. Your share will be packed and ready for you each week at pickup time, Thursdays from 2pm-6pm.
Registering early ensures you enjoy a full CSA season and helps us plan ahead, but we will keep enrollment open all season so you can join any time. Sign up by our soft registration deadline on March 27th, 2025 and receive a free Farmer Foodshare tote bag!

-Will I get updates and reminders? Yes, we’ll stay in touch throughout CSA season. You’ll get a weekly email from us letting you know what to expect in your food box that week and reminding you about pickup, including instructions about parking, etc.
-What if I miss a week? If you know that you’ll miss a pickup date, you are welcome to arrange for a friend to pick up your box that week. Alternatively, we are happy to donate your box to a community partner who can distribute it to a neighbor experiencing food insecurity. You can cancel your share at any time, but please note that we are not able to process refunds. Need a rec? Hear from our community:
Our very first season in 2023 was a big success, with more than 100 members from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds all eating the same nutritious, local food sourced from family farmers here in NC. We are proud and humbled that 100% of members surveyed said they would recommend this CSA to a friend and reported an increase in their family’s consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.
CSA for ALL! means a lot to us at Farmer Foodshare, and we know it can make an even bigger difference when more folks get involved. We love seeing the impact this program has on food insecurity in our area, and we wanted to share from some of our community members why it matters:
“For me, the best part of the Farmer FoodShare CSA Box was knowing that my share was not just supporting another family’s access to fresh local food, but also supporting NC farmers with the highest available wholesale price for their hard work. The quality and variety of the items in my box were top-notch, and I could really taste the difference on the quality of the proteins.” – 2024 Participant
“Everything was really high quality & my family enjoyed what we got! It seemed like there was thought put into what kind of meal someone could make with all these different ingredients & that was nice.” – 2024 Participant
“I loved that [the box contained protein] because it meant almost everything I needed for meals could come from the CSA!” -2023 No-cost Food Box Recipient
“We love supporting our local farmers! We liked the addition of protein and the diversity of fruits and vegetables. It was fun to find different recipes and get creative with foods we don’t normally get at the store/market” -2024 Participant
“I am able to feed my family with fresh food.” -2023 No-cost Food Box Recipient
“I love the challenge of being creative and finding ways to use up all the produce each week.” – 2024 Participant
“Estoy tan feliz de recibir esta ayuda que todo es mi favoto muchas gracias. Si que estoy agradecida con el programa./ I am so happy to receive this help, everything is my favorite, thank you very much. I am so grateful for the program. ” – 2024 No-cost Food Box Recipient

Something’s Different
This is our third year of CSA for ALL! We made a few changes to the plan this year, so if you’ve participated in the past, a few things may look different.
-Location: Pickups are at our food hub in Durham this year. For the first two years of running our CSA, we had the privilege of working with our community partner, TABLE NC in Carrboro, to help facilitate pickups. While we love collaborating with our friends, moving pickups to Durham alleviates some logistical constraints on time, transport, and staff hours, allowing us to make use of our facilities and letting TABLE continue their regular operations without needing to make adjustments for us. Based on interest and feedback from previous CSA seasons, we also know Durham is a convenient location for many of our community members. We are excited to host our CSA members here and see you all throughout the season!
-No-Cost Food Boxes & Pricing: In previous years, we used a sliding-scale model. We offered no-cost shares which were made possible through federal grant funding and collaboration with designated partner organizations. Currently, we are navigating a gap in government funding, and CSA for ALL! is a solo Farmer Foodshare operation this year. Because of these changes to our resources, no-cost shares aren’t available. Instead, this year, our CSA shares have a set price, and profits from every share get funneled into our Fresh Food Funds which allow our community partners to provide fresh produce at no cost to the community through their existing food access programming.
-Share Size: Our produce boxes are slightly smaller this year. We made this change for several reasons. We received quite a bit of feedback from CSA members, many of whom are single-resident households, that the amount of produce was too much to get through in a week. In an effort to be attentive to the needs of our community, we decided to decrease the quantity of each box, which also allowed us to keep costs lower this year as well. Each weekly produce box contains 7-12 items, about a week’s worth of produce for 1 person.
We can’t wait to feed our community and support local farmers this season with CSA for ALL! Join us! Sign up today to get local food all summer long and help make fresh, local food accessible for all.
