Farmer Foodshare exists to see a more just food system where local farmers can build sustainable businesses, supported by vibrant communities and generative economies.
Farmer Foodshare directly supports a network of 61 family farms across NC through food hub purchasing – and we’re growing! We work with farms of all sizes across the state for access to fresh NC produce all year.
While we work with all types of growers across NC, we prioritize historically marginalized farms.
87% of our farmer network is comprised
of beginning, small to mid-sized, and women- and/or BIPOC-owned farms.
We’re committed to paying our farmers fairly – they set their prices so our partnership can help their farming businesses grow.
In 2024 we returned $1.59 million dollars back to the pockets of local farmers.
The food we source nourishes the community, both through our Food Hub Market and the emergency food system. Each year, we aggregate millions of pounds of food for local businesses and food access programs.
We supply dozens of food distribution partners and more than a hundred food service institutions throughout the Triangle with produce and farm-fresh goods, providing independent local farms with new end markets.
We love welcoming new farmers to our sourcing network. Any farmer growing here in North Carolina is eligible to join! We are an especially good fit for farmers with the capacity to scale up and who are interested in wholesaling.
New farmers are added to our availability list, which is marketed to our network of purchasing partners. We are equipped to support our farmers with refrigerated trucks, farm pick-ups, and ample cold storage at our food hub where we prepare wholesale orders, pack food boxes, and re-distribute all our fresh, locally grown food.
We do the heavy lifting so our farmers can do what they do best – growing incredible food for the community.
