New partnership blooms in Raleigh!

Garden work day!

With the help of many community partners, Farmer Foodshare has started a new Donation Station at the Raleigh City Farmers' Market in City Market across from Moore Square. We’re always looking for new recipients who understand our mission and incorporate similar values into their daily work. So we are delighted to announce Alliance Medical Ministry (AMM) as our new Raleigh City Farmers' Market recipient!

Alliance Medical Ministry is a faith-led nonprofit organization whose mission is to serve working uninsured adults of Wake County in need of affordable health care. They offer primary care to their patients, with comprehensive, on-site services that include chronic and acute medical care, health education, access to medication, laboratory testing, bilingual services, pastoral care and counseling, and referrals for specialty care. As Megg Radar, Alliance Medical Ministry’s Executive Director suggests, their aim is to treat the whole person.

Beautiful community garden

They also have a thriving community garden. It is a working garden that patients and community members can get their hands into, both as therapy and to enhance their community. Located on two acres adjacent to the AMM clinic, the garden is a productive use of the land and a tangible reminder that healthy living begins with healthy eating. We're encouraged that AMM sees part of their mission as educating their patients on the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables. Physicians have the unique opportunity to give their patients a piece of the garden harvest, while teaching them how these foods contribute to their overall health.

We are really excited about this partnership. Welcome to the Farmer Foodshare network Alliance Medical Ministry!
